Wagners produces young plants in nine different tray configurations.
Each tray meets a certain need. When applicable, we use Common Element
(CE) trays. CE trays meet industry standards with respect to the placement
of the centers of the cells within the tray. CE trays, regardless
of manufacturer, should be interchangeable in your equipment without
adjusting equipment settings. All trays are patched to 100%.
512:
Our 512 tray, sold as 490, is manufactured by Dillen (thermoformed
process). This CE tray consists of square cells. The tray is not ventilated,
allowing the maximum amount of space for each developing root system.
The 512 tray is used in the Spring Plug Program only. It is the most
economical option for flatted material. The 512 is also very automation
friendly, allowing smooth operation of your transplanting line.

384:
Our 384 tray is used for both the Spring Plug and Summer/Fall Plug
Programs. This ventilated tray is manufactured by Landmark. The cells
are octagonal, encouraging strong root development. Sold as 365, the
384 tray is an excellent choice for both bedding flats and jumbo flats.
It can also be used in slightly larger, such as four inch, containers.

288:
Our 288 tray, sold as 275, is also manufactured by Landmark. This
ventilated CE tray features octagonal cells. The 288 can withstand
holding prior to transplant better than smaller trays. The larger
root volume of the 288 also affords it greater versatility in use.
The 288 can be used for large containers and baskets. Used for flatted
material, a 288 greatly reduces finishing time.
162:
We use our 162 tray, sold as 155, for florist crop liners. As the
smallest florist crop liner we offer, the 162 reduces shipping costs
while providing Wagners’ quality in a transplanted, graded product.
The tray features square cells and is manufactured by TLC.
144:
We use our 144 tray across several programs and in several ways. Most
144 items on the Spring Plug Program are multisown. The main use for
these products has been hanging baskets. However, with the growing
popularity of mixed containers, growers are realizing that the multisown
144 provides rapid and balanced fill with other seed and vegetatively
produced items. Some vigorous items, like Wave petunias, are single
sown in the 144. Geraniums and Component Plants are also single sown
in the 144. The main use for our multisown 144 pansy on the Summer/Fall
Plug Program is to achieve very quick fill of four inch or larger
containers. This reduced crop time facilitates early crops and helps
growers manage their space. This CE tray features octagonal cells
with ventilation holes and is manufactured by Landmark. All 144s are
sold as 140.
128:
The 128 tray is used exclusively for tuberous begonia liners. This
intermediate sized tray is easier to work with than a seedling tray,
and more economical than a larger liner tray. Our 128 tuberous begonias
are hand graded and transplanted. As with the 72 size, the 128 begonias
receive 16 hour days. TLC manufactures the square-celled tray. Sold
as 125.
72:
Our 72 tray features round cells and is used for our premium Spring
Plug items, Cool Crops Liners, and intermediate/miniature Cyclamen
Liners. All items produced in this tray are hand graded and transplanted.
Spring Plugs produced in 72s include items used for four inch pots
and larger containers. Cool Crops Liners are typically used for pot
plant production. The use of the 72 for intermediate and miniature
cyclamen facilitates production in smaller containers as compared
to standard cyclamen varieties. Manufactured by TLC, we sell the 72
as a 70.
50:
Our 50 tray is used only with standard cyclamen varieties. Sold as
50, the tray provides the proper amount of root space, allowing strong
root development without constriction, for the size of plants we prefer
to ship. The tray also facilitates easy removal of the liners without
damaging the root system.
