Grow Veggies in an Edible Garden

Spring is just a few weeks away!

Hold on, we’re almost there. Start getting ready for spring by thinking about what veggies you may want to plant. The edible garden is going to be very popular this year. A veggie garden is more satisfying and a lot more fun when you can serve your family and friends delicious homegrown delights right from your garden. Don’t ripe tomatoes and peppers on your pizza sound tasty? Healthy too! Watch for the banner in our veggie section this spring that reads “BLT’s under construction.” We provide the lettuce and tomato plants, you supply the bacon!

If you prefer starting veggie seeds ahead of the planting season, come and browse our seed racks and “starter” helpers. It is fun and so satisfying to watch those little babies start to sprout. We can help you decide which plants and veggies will grow best in your yard. Just come in and ask our expert gardeners.

Gardening is good for you. Research shows that just 5 minutes of active gardening decreases the risk of mental illness and increases your sense of well-being. Any physical activity in the presence of nature was found to provide the results. What a good reason to get out in the garden!

Don’t forget to visit us at the Home & Garden Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center March 2 to 6, 2011. Stop by booth #1304 and take a pansy plant home with you. A sure sign of spring!
