Here is a new idea that maybe you hadn’t thought about. Pair alyssum with lettuce! Why? New research by USDA Agricultural Research Service has discovered that alyssum helps to control pest problems when planted near lettuce. It’s particularly effective to control aphids. Another benefit is that the alyssum produces more flower heads when near the lettuce. This was observed on the vegetable farms in California. Now isn’t that a great surprise?
